QUIT SMOKING
Smoking is a very dangerous habit in the world. It might be something that a lot of people enjoy, but it's really responsible for many deaths. Cigarettes have a lot of bad effects and not even one advantage. They're unhealthy, affect your teeth badly and cost too much money.
The statistics in the United States in 2008 show that 24.8 million men (23.1 percent) and 21.1 million women (18.3 percent) were smokers which is a high amount.
Smoking is considered to be a main cause of heart disease, lung problems, cancer, and strokes, which are all very dangerous and deadly diseases. A large amount of people who died because of these diseases were smokers. For instance, smoking kills around 114,000 people in the U.K each year, so it affects how long you live. Cigarettes contain more than 4000 chemical compounds and at least 400 substances. When you breath in, a cigarette burns at 700 degrees Celsius at the tip and around 60 degrees Celsius in the core. This heat breaks down the tobacco to produce various toxins. The products that are most damaging are, the tar "substance that causes cancer," nicotine, which increases cholesterol levels in your body, carbon monoxide which reduces oxygen in the body, and components of the gas and particulate phases which cause chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD).
Smoking also affects teeth. People who smoke will certainly lose their teeth because it causes a lot of gum diseases. It makes teeth discolored, also it causes bad breath, increases risk of developing cavities, and long term use of tobacco can cause oral cancer.
Tobacco is not only unhealthy, but it's also expensive. For example, if you want to count how many cigarettes you smoke every day, you'll find out that you are really spending a lot of money, and it's brainless to spend money on something that will kill you eventually instead of spending it on something healthy for you like good kinds of food.
To quit smoking, you might need to ask your doctor for advice, or someone who quit before, and then you have to do a few things to help you quit. First, cut down the number of cigarettes you smoke each day, clean  the ashtrays and put them away, get a friend or spouse to quite with you, start exercising, throw the lighters away, change the brand of your cigarette to ones you don't like, and only smoke half a cigarette each day. Then you can finally quit by following simple tips: make a date and stick to it, keep yourself busy so you don't think of cigarettes, drink a lot of fluids, get more active. For example, you can walk instead of using your car. Always think positive, change your routine, don't use any problem like an excuse for "just one cigarette," treat yourself by buying something special for yourself, be careful of what you eat, and finally keep in your mind that one day without smoking a cigarette is good news for your health, your family, and your pocket.
By following these tips, you'll guarantee your safety and your life. You will see that your life is much better after quitting, because now you don't have to worry about your health, your teeth, and your money. Always remember, smoking will increase your risk of dying, and you might have a big chance of not reaching your forties or fifties alive.
